Graphic canister-cover system for Kemix Industriale SRL's bulk product range.
A modular A4 system designed to identify and present more than 300 bulk product references.
Overview

Since around 2022–2023, I have been working with Kemix Industriale SRL on the graphic covers used across its bulk product range. These are A4 printed and laminated sheets shaped through specific cutting guides to fit 25 kg canisters. I developed the full graphic system, master template, individual variants and final production files supplied both to the company and to retailers offering Kemix bulk products. The project has grown beyond 300 files and is still active.

The challenge

Kemix needed a new visual system for its bulk range after the Alga brand, previously used to present and sell these products, was sold. The previous covers had a recognisable visual style, but that identity no longer represented Kemix directly.

The new system needed to make the shelf clearer, more colourful and more professional while immediately communicating the product category and, where relevant, its fragrance. Each reference had to remain recognisable from a distance without losing the overall identity of the range.

Scale was another major challenge: the system had to work across hundreds of files and very different categories while preserving a consistent structure and allowing strong visual variety.

Constraints

The final piece is an A4 sheet intended for printing and lamination. The layout follows a fixed geometry with white and dashed areas that must be cut away so the sheet can fit a 25 kg canister while leaving the central handle accessible.

The Kemix logo and Linea Sfuso heading always remain in the same position and form the fixed part of the template. The cutting guides are also consistent across every product reference.

Dedicated areas at the bottom are reserved for the product code and price in €/kg. These values are handwritten after lamination, allowing retailers to erase them with alcohol and update them without damaging the printed sheet.

The approach

I created a reusable master template built around the Kemix logo, the Linea Sfuso heading and the technical cutting guides. This structure maintains consistency across hundreds of references while making new variants faster to produce.

For each product, I develop the visual area beneath the header by selecting or creating the background imagery, defining the typography and arranging the category, product name and fragrance. I handle image research directly and, when useful, use AI tools as part of the visual-development process.

The system spans eleven categories: laundry additives, fabric softeners, body washes, bleach products, air fresheners, laundry detergents, hand washes, floor and surface cleaners, dishwashing products, degreasers and shampoos.

Every file is prepared directly for production. When a retailer requests a reference that is not yet available or not yet in production, I first confirm it with Kemix and create the new file only after coordinating with the company.

Production

Final PDFs are supplied both to Kemix Industriale and to individual retailers selling the bulk range. Each piece is printed on A4, laminated and then manually cut along the guides built into the layout.

Lamination is not only protective: it also turns the product-code and price areas into reusable fields. Values can be handwritten and later removed with alcohol while preserving the underlying printed graphic.

The project therefore functions as an operational system as well as a visual one, delivering ready-to-use files that can be managed over time by both the company and its retailers.

The outcome

The system is currently used on 25 kg canisters in retail locations offering Kemix bulk products. The graphics make categories, variants and fragrances easier to recognise while giving the shelf a more organised and company-specific visual presence.

Since its initial development, the project has grown beyond 300 files and continues today through new references, product updates and requests from both Kemix and its retail network.
